My wife and I are senior citizens and we needed a complete renovation of my upstairs bathroom. The old bathroom included a water jets tub which requires you to lift your leg up and over that could lead to a terrible fall. We developed a plan with Jeff and his crew to completely demolish the existing bathroom down to the bare studs. We also eliminated the need to keep the radiator for heat. Since the entire bathroom was open to major improvements. The plumbing and electrical components had to be to be completely replaced. By removing the bathtub we were able to have a virtual step-in shower with overhead and wall components. In addition, we added a portable adjustable wand that can be used whether standing or sitting on the shower bench. The entire bathroom floor - both in and out of the shower along with the shower bench is heated by a program used by the homeowner. We also upgraded our toilet with a Toto Bidet which users can adjust the water heat. We replaced the mirror with a user friendly light mirror combination as well as keeping the humidity off the mirror. By removing the radiator we had Jeff put in a heated towel rack. And in order to replace the heat provided by the radiator, Jeff put in a combination overhead heater component with exhaust fan. Jeff also put in ADA compliant shower bars in and out of the shower area. Jeff also uses an expert in tile installation. And Jeff has deals with Staten Island distributors for a significant price savings. Jeff also uses experts in glass shower door installation. In summation, Jeff and crew were extremely professional and courteous. Another great quality they exhibited was to clean up the work area every day. Therefore, if you need a great price for great work, you can’t go wrong with this great firm.
Deck Replacement in Staten Island, NY
Hughes Home Improvements replaces aging and unsafe decks for homeowners across Staten Island.
Expert Deck Replacement in Staten Island, NY
When a deck has rotting boards, soft joists, or structural damage that repairs can no longer fix, a full deck replacement is the right call. Hughes Home Improvements handles complete deck replacements for homeowners across Staten Island and New Jersey. We remove the old structure down to the footings, assess what is underneath, and build a new deck that is sized and built for how you actually use your outdoor space. Staten Island's climate is hard on decks. Humid summers, cold winters, and salt air near the shore accelerate rot, warping, and fastener corrosion in ways that patch repairs cannot address. A full replacement stops that cycle. As a family-owned and operated company, we treat every project on your home the way we would treat our own. If your deck feels soft underfoot, shows visible rot in the framing, or has wobbly posts, contact Hughes Home Improvements to schedule a look.

Deck Replacement FAQ
Common questions about deck replacement in Staten Island, NY.
Replacement is the right choice when the joists, posts, or ledger board show rot or structural damage. Surface board swaps can fix isolated problems, but soft framing underneath means the whole structure needs to go.
We tear out the existing deck down to the footings, inspect the substructure, and build a new deck from the ground up. Every component, from the framing to the decking surface, is replaced.
Yes, salt air near the shore speeds up corrosion on fasteners and breaks down wood faster than inland areas. Choosing the right materials for your specific location helps the new deck hold up much longer.
Yes, Hughes Home Improvements serves homeowners in New Jersey as well as Staten Island. Reach out to talk through your project and get a look at your current deck.
A new deck improves the safety and appearance of your home, both of which matter to buyers. A deck with visible rot or instability can raise concerns during a home inspection.
Boards that feel soft or spongy underfoot, wobbly railings, and posts that have shifted or cracked are all signs the deck should not be used until it is inspected. Contact Hughes Home Improvements to have it assessed before the next time it is loaded with people.
